I love avo. If there’s one ingredient I had to use for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between it would be that.
So when M & I visited that little mexican place with two other couples, the guacamole was the first of many plates to be ordered. Prepared at the table by the waitress simply spooning out the green goodness and mixing it with a few ingredients and a squeeze of lime, it goes to show that even the simplest of dishes can have everyone licking their lips.
Most avo dips you can buy at your local have sour cream or some form of dairy in the top 3 ingredients…not so good for an avo-loving but lactose-intollerant person.
So here’s my version minus the dairy:
- 2 avos (little bit overripe), mashed with a fork
- 1-2 cloves of garlic, crushed or finely chopped
- 2-3 tomatoes, roughly chopped
- 1/4 red onion, diced
- 1 red chilli, finely chopped
- juice of half a lemon or lime
- salt
- coriander (optional), roughly chopped
- Combine all the ingredients, taste and add more lemon juice, salt, chilli if need be.
- Serve with corn chips, crusty bread or veggie sticks.
- Eat in copious amounts!

I love that I was also in the mood for Guacamole this week too!
With that burst of lime and chilli, it’s so refreshing and tasty!
I’ve heard of avocado icecream before… not sure how this one would go, but worth a try if you have an icecream machine! 🙂

Ohh that sounds interesting! I’ve had an avocado smoothie before so I guess it would taste similar…would be great after a spicy Malaysian curry!

I have heard a lot lately about grilled avocado. I have not tried it yet myself, but all comments are really good.
